Pastoring

  • Preserve and protect the sheep!
  • The Church – values – beliefs – mission:
    • Our values are what make us unique.
      • God's Word. God's Creation. God's Will.
    • Our beliefs are non-negotiable.
      • "There is a God and it's not me!"
    • Our mission is what we do.
      • "You do what you believe!"

The question instead should be; who has the most reasonable faith?
J. F. Baldwin

What Is Marriage?

  • Part 1 – Answer of Origin
  • Marriage is a reflection of the nature of God that reveals His inherent social an Divine Order and is realized in His creation as the Bridegroom in covenant relationship with His bride.

So also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. I Corinthians 15:45

  • This is not merely a CONTRACT
    • Many of which are based on insecurity and suspicion, which stems from fear and mistrust.
  • Nor is this merely a COMMITMENT
    • One based on an emotional promise, that can change with time.
  • Rather, it is a COVENANT
    • covenant is a sacrificial promise that is dependent on the Power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
  • Today there are two competing views:
    • The conjugal view
      • Marriage is the union of a man and a woman who make a permanent and exclusive commitment to each other of the type that is naturally (inherently) fulfilled by bearing and rearing children together.
    • The revisionist view
      • Marriage is the union of two people (whether of the same sex or of opposite sexes) who commit to romantically loving and caring for each other and to sharing the burdens and benefits of domestic life as a union of hearts and minds, enhanced by whatever forms of sexual intimacy both partners find agreeable.
  • God's revealed will:

  • Part 2 – Answer of Definition

If I could offer a single prescription for the survival of America, and particularly black America, it would be to restore the family. And if you asked me how to do it, my answer
— doubtlessly oversimplified
— would be; save the boys.
William Raspberry
