Kingdom Parables

  • A series of seven Kingdom similes—comparisons, reflections, types
  • The first parable discloses the heart of man
    • The Sower and the Seed
    • The willing or unwilling heart to receive the Kingdom as types of soil
  • The second parable reveals the patience of God
    • The Wheat and the Tares
      • God's windows of truth
      • God will have a people of His own possession—a peculiar people—a Holy nation
  • The third parable reveals the purpose of God
  • His eternal Kingdom
  • The Mustard Seed comparison
  • Get ready! God will accomplish this.

There are six repeating elements:

  1. The similitude
  2. The Man or the Sower = Christ
  3. The Field or the heart = world/person
  4. The Seed = the Word of God
  5. Expansion—growth or spread—inevitability!
  6. Presence of evil intent

He presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches." Matthew 13:31-32
