Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem

  • Zechariah 9:9
  • All 4 Gospels
    • John 12:12-15
    • Luke 19:28-48
    • Mark 11:1-10
    • Matthew 21:1-17

Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." John 18:36-37

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Matthew 23:37

Why is the week called holy and Friday called good?

  • God fulfills the promise of His remedy given so long ago
  • His redemption is accomplished for us
  • We now have triumphed in Him over sin and Satan
    • The devil is defeated!
  • The veil is torn from the top to the bottom!
  • Jesus' cry of dereliction on the cross "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" is the universal ID with Jesus

Lift up your heads, O gates!
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,  he is the King of glory!
Psalm 24:7-10

He Has Come In Peace

  • John 14:23-29
    • Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
  • Keys to a joyful and fruitful Christian life:
    • Know that God loves you
    • Jesus earthly ministry has provided all we need to be reconciled to God
    • Know this, God is not mad at you! But He is God!
    • Jesus has come that we might be delivered from this dark and broken world so that we can be transferred to the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of light and find restoration in our lives and in His creation. Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
