Themes In Samuel

• God overrules in human affairs, great and small, to accomplish His purpose.
• God always acts in the best interest of His people, whether He blesses, judges, or teaches.
• God always calls appropriate leaders for His work and uses them to move His plan along.

Praying Parents

• I Samuel 1:28 – Hannah "Lent (dedicated) him to the Lord"
• Parents:
  • Pray for and value your child
  • Treat children as a gift from God (Psalm 127)
  • Dedicate your child to the Lord for life
  • Continue in your concern for the child even after departure. (Parenting always changes and never ends)
• Samuel’s character was formed by these actions and attitudes as he served as a prophet and judge.

Hannah’s Prayer - I Samuel 2:1-11

• Vss 1-2 - Celebrating God’s omnipotence (power) & holiness
• Vs 3 - God silences His critics
• Vss 4-8 - God reverses fortunes
• Vs 9 - God provides for His people
• Vs 10 - God ultimately deals with His adversaries and exults the king.
